Preparations for Market

Things have been hectic here all week. This weekend is our Cowgirl Market. We've all been preparing for the weekend. Sewing, gluing, cleaning, decorating....still much left to do. This afternoon we'll spend time reading the house and setting up all our displays.

However, at my house, my sewing room is a wreck! I just pull more out and keep on working. Next week I'll have to spend time getting my work area straightened up and decorating for Christmas. I found a really nice Christmas tablecloth this summer at a garage sale. It was in pretty poor shape, but after much soaking and TLC, I was able to get enough usable area that I re-purposed 3 aprons from the one tablecloth. I had to work hard on the third one (the ties are from the back fabric, since it's totally reversible). I really liked how the child's apron turned out. I was able to fit one full motif on the front. I don't have many other Christmas aprons (hard to find...and usually in too nice a shape to cut up!)

This summer while I was in Canada we visited Mary Maxim's warehouse! I have purchased from the catalog before, but thoroughly enjoyed browsing through the store. I love to "touch" everything...so sometimes it's hard to buy from a catalog...but I force myself! LOL!

I bought a couple of packages of plain towels while at Mary Maxim's and knew I wanted to decorate them...just not sure at the time how that would look. I printed some of my favorite Christmas images onto the iron on material and decorated the edges. I made 7 large towels and 6 smaller towels with Christmas various images. We want to have some "under $10" items to offer at the sale this weekend.

Here are the smaller towels...I tried to find smaller images to use for these finger towels.

Last night our GriefShare group worked on their collage' projects. There were only 3 that decided to do the project so it was a fairly easy time of instruction (lots of one on one time with each one!)
I came home and thought I would catch up on a few of my favorite blogs when I found this tutorial on The Feathered Nest. Of course...I promptly went upstairs to find "items" I could use to make a "few" mittens! I'm just a glutton for punishment! They were great fun to make and so simple. If you haven't visited Dawn's site...it's full of inspiration!
Well...still more to do, so don't know when I'll return!d I'll take pictures this weekend..but hopefully I'll have some from set up this afternoon!
If you're in McKinney this weekend...stop by and see us~
