Reading...

I brought plenty of reading for the next 10 days.  Most of the things I'm involved with here happen at night. During the day I am free to spend my time at the pool and read (Peter and Emily have work schedules they must follow.)  I show up for meals...then back to the pool.  Such a hard life!

Texas Roads was my first choice for reading.  It's by Cathy Bryant. (Check her out!)  I met Cathy in Blogland and ordered her book from her blog! Texas Roads is Cathy Bryant's debut novel.  Her novel was a 2009 finalist in the American Christian Fiction Writers' Genesis competition.  Cathy lives with her husband in a century-old Texas farmhouse and is a Texas girl by birth.  Stop by and tell Cathy hello...and be sure to order her book.  So far I'm hooked!

It was Good Making Art to the Glory of God is a collection of over twenty essays on issues relating to making art from a Christian perspective. There are many color artworks from Michelangelo to Makoto Fujimura and from Rembrandt to Tim Hawkinson.  I look forward to learning from many great artists!

Texas Legacy was given to me for Christmas and I haven't had a moment to read these "novels"...
Texas Legacy is a series of three novels by author DiAnn Mills (and they are all under one cover.)  I have not read anything by DiAnn before, but if Texas is in the title I think I may just enjoy the read.  I believe these books are also Faith based novels...so I'm looking forward to diving in!

"It's one thing to have a dream. It's another to do the things needed to achieve it" - that's the premise behind John Maxwell's latest book Put Your Dream to the Test: 10 Questions That Will Help You See It and Seize It (you can read more from the Thomas Nelson's blogger review) John Maxwell doesn't try to tell you the right answers, but instead delivers ten great questions that really should be considered by anyone with a dream.  Hopefully I'll have time to squeeze this one in as well before my 10 days are up.

I also brought along some light reading (learning) for when my eyes just can't stay open anymore (or someone wants to talk, talk, talk to you while I am trying to relax!) HA!

Look for me along the right side of the pool!  I'll be under the yellow umbrellas!

Till tomorrow,
debi

Thanks so much for the mention of Texas Roads! Hope you're enjoying the story and your down time. I confess to being a wee bit jealous of your locale right now!!! =)

Debi,
I was just given the Texas Roads book, just 3 weeks ago from a visitor from Kilgore...have not had time to read...but should.

I've been thinking and blogging about dreams lately (in the sense of goals) and this book suggestion was so timely! My past 4 posts have been asking questions about when to go for it and when to give it up. Your timing was so amazing, I quoted you in my latest entry. Hope you don't mind.
